Tipping Point
ARTIST
Luke Jerram
LOCATION
Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Edgbaston
International artist Luke Jerram has created Tipping Point a thought-provoking sound and light installation creating a simulated forest fire. In collaboration with award winning composers Dan Jones and Simon Birch, the outdoor artwork includes an immersive soundtrack with audio of trees burning and birds flying away, bringing the reality of deforestation to life. The soundtrack also contains interviews with people about their direct experience of forest fires. Tipping Point was commissioned by University of Bristol Botanic Garden and non-profit campaign Make My Money Matter. The artwork aims to inspire the public to pressure the pensions industry to remove deforestation from our investments.
