LOCATION

Snow Hill Square

TIME

6pm–10pm

Flux is a kinetic light installation composed of rotating lights that create a graceful choreography, seemingly creating the illusion the beams of lights are dancing in the air. The result is a living, organic and reactive object that poetically moves through tumultuous states, suspended in a state of flux.

Through their work, Collectif Scale blends architectural structures with new technologies and dynamic light. Enhancing the artist's lighting designs, they began to explore the world of movement, kinetics and robotics to create mesmerising experiences.

WHAT TO EXPECT

There is an amplified electronic backing track at this installation, which the lights respond to. The sound could be described as starting slow, with moments of electronic high pitched drone, punctuated with deep pulsing beeps, creating a sense of the artwork "waking up". The music comes from all four sides of the installation, and builds into an exciting crescendo with a steady beat and sythnethic string sounds. The music, and the light sequence lasts 5 minutes, and runs on a loop. This artwork features fast moving light sequences. The artwork will be raised up on a platform so it can be visible further back. The square is step free when approaching from the Colmore Row side.

This artwork will feature on our Audio Description tour on Thursday 20th February. Find more information on the tour and details on how to register here.
