Floor is LAVA x Silent Disco

ARTIST

Designed and conceived by Outdoor Places Unusual Spaces Ltd

LOCATION

Centenary Square

TIME

6pm–10pm

Join us for the ultimate Silent Disco experience, where you and your family will dance, jump, and groove to your favourite party tunes, with a special playlist on one channel just for children. Be careful though - every so often the track will change and the red lights will tell you DANGER! THE FLOOR IS LAVA! Move quickly and avoid the lights to stay in the Silent Disco!

It’s the perfect mix of fitness, fun, and music for kids and adults alike - whether you're dodging lava or simply vibing to the beats, you won’t want to miss this!

This is a new experience, funded by our friends at United By 2022 Charity, for the inaugural Birmingham Light Festival, aimed at providing a light installation designed to get you moving and grooving. Share with your parent pals and grab a headset for February half term fun!

Special Guest Appearances

Wednesday: Perry

He's back! Dancing like no ones watching, Perry will be cutting loose on the dance floor for a special guest appearance on our opening night!

Thursday: India Island, Sampad Arts

Get ready to erupt with energy as dancers from India Island ignite the dance floor with sizzling moves plus Sampad Arts will be curating a channel on the silent disco, bringing the best beats from Bhangra to Bollywood.

Friday: Skate Buddies

SkateBuddies invite you to grab your skates and join them on the dancefloor. For one night only, the dancefloor becomes a shared space where you can show off all your best tricks. If you would like to bring your skates down to the disco, please note that this will be a space suitable only for static or sequence dancing - you will not be able to skate freely around the dance floor.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The event will feature moving lighting, haze and bright, changing colours. Haze is used to enhance the lighting effects - we recommend caution for individuals with respiratory conditions. While the event is quiet externally, the wireless headphones allow you to adjust the volume to your comfort level. There is some seating on Centenary Square, but no dedicated seating in the disco area.

This artwork will feature on our Audio Description tour on Thursday 20th February. Find more information on the tour and details on how to register here.
